What To Do When Students Have Hearing Loss
If you think one of your students may have hearing loss, there are several options: you can contact your school's speech language pathologist, who can do a hearing screening and can help you reach the educational audiologist for your school district, or you can contact the educational audiologist directly. Contact your district's educational audiologist to help determine the most effective way to help the student. The audiologist can:
- Determine if your student is actually learning
- Recommend assistive technology to help your student learn
- Recommend improvements in classroom acoustics
- Give teachers and staff information that can help simulate what the child is experiencing
- Monitor your student
