On November 18 and 19, 2009, ASHA took the Buds to New Orleans for four in-school concerts. Iconic singer and local native Charmaine Neville, part of the legendary Neville family, passed on the Buds’ safe listening message to young students through interactive song.

Glendale, California
September 22 and 23, 2009
The third in the Listen To Your Buds Children's Concert Series, featuring children's entertainer Linda Severt, was held on September 22, 2009 in Glendale, California. In addition to the larger concert at the Glendale Civic Auditorium, three more concerts were held at Glendale area elementary schools on September 22 and 23.

Billy Jonas, two time winner of Parents' Choice awards, performed at the second Listen to your Buds concert in Washington DC. Jonas thrilled the packed house at George Washington University's, Lisner Auditorium, and his interactive concert was an overwhelming success. Latest ASHA Podcast Focuses On Noise-Induced Hearing Loss And The Young
Podcast Features Dr. James Battey Jr., Director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders
The risk of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) among the young is the focus of a new podcast by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Interviewee Dr. James F. Battey Jr., director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) explains what NIHL is, the risk involved, and how parents and kids can take steps to protect themselves from NIHL.
Recently, ASHA became the first organization to join NIDCD's It's a Noisy Planet: Protect Their Hearing campaign. NIDCD in turn is collaborating with ASHA's own campaign, Listen to Your Buds, which is also devoted to NIHL and the young.

ASHA and NIDCD Join Forces on Protecting the Hearing of the Young
Safety Message Will Be Part Of Washington, DC, Concert Featuring Billy Jonas
Encouraging children to protect their hearing from noise is the objective of a new joint effort between The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), one of the National Institutes of Health.
Both organizations have national campaigns that address the young and the risk of noise-induced hearing loss, an important health concern. Aimed at very young children, parents, and educators, ASHA's "Listen To Your Buds" campaign features a concert series; a national coalition of Parents' Choice Foundation award-winning musicians who specialize in children's music; and an interactive bilingual Web site (www.listentoyourbuds.org) with educational games for kids and resources for parents and teachers, all for the purpose of instilling in the very young healthy hearing listening habits when using personal audio technology.

ASHA Announces Plans For Listen To Your Buds "Safe Listening" Concert in Washington, DC
Group aims to build on success of its Buds Chicago concert
After a tremendously successful debut in Chicago, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) announced today that it will hold, again in collaboration with Parents' Choice Foundation, a second Listen To Your Buds concert, this time in Washington, DC in May.
May is recognized nationally and annually as Better Hearing and Speech Month, and the Listen To Your Buds concert will be one more step in a nationwide musical campaign to inspire young children to use personal audio technology safely by turning down the volume.

The importance of young children learning at an early age about safe usage of personal audio devices is the focus of a new podcast (www.asha.org/podcast) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
The podcast features children's music star Justin Roberts who has joined ASHA's Listen to Your Buds campaign (www.listentoyourbuds.org) which promotes safe listening practices to young children. The Buds campaign is part of ASHA's broader public education campaign, America: Tuned In Today...But Tuned Out Tomorrow? which promotes safe listening habits.

ASHA, Parents' Choice Foundation To Form National Coalition Of Musicians To Promote Safe Listening
Children's Music Star Justin Roberts To Give First Ever "Listen To Your Buds" Concerts
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Parents' Choice Foundation have announced today that they are forming a national coalition of leading musicians who are popular with young children to promote safe usage of personal audio technology.
Justin Roberts, who has won national acclaim and five Parents' Choice Awards for his power-pop songs and song writing, has already signed on to help with the effort. Roberts will give the first Listen To Your Buds concerts November 19 at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The morning and afternoon events will be by invitation only and for the enjoyment of local school children. However, they will also help "kick off" ASHA's Convention, slated for Chicago later in the same week.
